Paradigm Shift in 1970s
The behaviors our [students/consumers/learners] show are a reflection of our incompetence, not theirs. Marc Gold
The work of Marc Gold and others brought about a shift in thinking about people with significant disabilities.
New training techniques (in the 1970s) enabled people with significant disabilities to be successful learners and to become competent, valued workers.
These techniques enabled teachers and trainers to become competent to teach work skills to learners who had previously found it difficult to learn to work.
