Hyperacute hearing
“During my entire school life (and home life) I have been able to hear conversations fluently even when the speakers are far from me.
It was very difficult in high school, but worse at G.M.U., because frequently doors were left open to the hallways, due to it being too hot or crowded in the class, and the conversations of persons walking in the hallway were crystal clear.
The tough part was paying attention to the prof the next time he or she spoke. Why? Because sometimes the conversations in the hall were more interesting than the lectures and discussion in my own classroom.”
Sean Sokler, GMU, Class of 2005
